Bill Cosby released a new statement via his lawyer, #MartinSinger, on Friday, in which he slammed the women who have accused him of rape by questioning both their stories and why they waited so long to go public. He said:
“The new, never-before-heard claims from women who have come forward in the past two weeks with unsubstantiated, fantastical stories about things they say occurred 30, 40, or even 50 years ago have escalated far past the point of absurdity.”
“These brand new claims about alleged decades-old events are becoming increasingly ridiculous, and it is completely illogical that so many people would have said nothing, done nothing, and made no reports to law enforcement or asserted civil claims if they thought they had been assaulted over a span of so many years.”
“Lawsuits are filed against people in the public eye every day. There has never been a shortage of lawyers willing to represent people with claims against rich, powerful men, so it makes no sense that not one of these new women who just came forward for the first time now ever asserted a legal claim back at the time they allege they had been sexually assaulted.”
“This situation is an unprecedented example of the media’s breakneck rush to run stories without any corroboration or adherence to traditional journalistic standards. Over and over again, we have refuted these new unsubstantiated stories with documentary evidence, only to have a new uncorroborated story crop up out of the woodwork. When will it end? It is long past time for this media vilification of Mr. Cosby to stop.”
Meanwhile two women named Renita Chaney Hill, 47, and Kristina Ruehli, 75, came forward on Friday claiming the comedian also drugged and raped them.
Renita told CBS Pittsburgh that she had an on/off relationship with Bill in the ’80 when she was 15 and appeared on his educational television segments "Picture Pages." He flew her to a number of cities and she spent night in his hotel room, where he plied her with drinks and drugs.
"One time, I remember just before I passed out, “she said. “I remember him kissing and touching me and I remember the taste of his cigar on his breath, and I didn't like it. I remember another time when I woke up in my bed the next day and he was leaving, he mentioned, you should probably lose a little weight. I thought that odd, how would he know that?"
On her part, Kristina told Philadelphia Magazine that Bill drugged her when she was 22 and working as a secretary at a talent agency in Beverly Hills, California where Bill was then a client. She said she was one of the women in Andrea Constand's lawsuit against the comedian that was eventually settled.
According to Kristina, Bill invited her to party at his house and she later found out that there were no other guests except her. Bill then allegedly poured her two bourbons and she passed out after drinking them.
"It was all foggy, and I woke up in the bed. I found myself on the bed, and he had his shirt off. He had unzipped his pants. I was just coming to," Kristina said. "He was attempting to force me into oral sex. He had his hand on my head. He had his cock out, and he had my head pushed close enough to it - I just remember looking at his stomach hair. And the hair on his chest. I had never seen a black man naked before."
Kristina said she went public with her story because she wanted to add credibility to the rape allegations.
"I don't need money or aggravation," she added, "I'm very wealthy, so I have nothing to gain. But I wanted to come forward to tell the truth to back up other people."
What do you think of Bill’s statement? Let me know.
