Angelina Jolie jumped over a (small) bush to sign autographs for fans patiently waiting outside a screening of her film “Unbroken” in Beverly Hills, California on Monday after Japanese conservatives branded her a “demon" and called for her to be banned from the country over her so-called “immoral” and "racist" depiction of Japanese Second World War prison guards in “Unbroken”.
Nationalist campaigners say the film’s vision of Japanese guards severely mistreating American prisoners of war is deeply misleading. They’ve launched a petition on Change.org, calling for the film to be banned on the grounds that it is “contradictory to the facts”. The petition has been signed by over 8,000 people so far.
