Bill Cosby has slammed the lawsuit filed this week by #JudyHuth, 55, who claimed he sexually assaulted her at the #PlayboyMansion when she was 15. Read details here.
In a lawsuit filed on Thursday, Cosby's attorney #MartySinger, called the accusations “absolutely false,” “unreliable,” and “untimely.” He said that Huth’s claims are fabricated lies and an attempt to extort the comedian.
He claims Huth’s attorney contacted him last month, demanding $100,000 in exchange for silence, or risk criminal penalties but after more women recently accused Cosby of assault, Huth’s lawyer increased the demand to $250,000 and filed the lawsuit when Cosby refused to give in.
Singer further alleges that Huth first tried selling her story to tabloids about 10 years ago, but no one bought it. He argued that her previous attempt to sell the story conflicted with what she claimed in her new lawsuit, which is that she only recently recalled the incident after dealing with years of emotional distress.
Singer also said Huth’s story fell apart when she said she and Cosby "engaged in a drinking game" in which they "both consumed three beers." He added, "It is a well-known, and easily verifiable, that Mr. Cosby is a life-long non-drinker."
Singer said Huth’s case "fails to state sufficient facts to constitute a cause of action for claims arising out of alleged childhood sexual abuse." He also asked her and her attorney to pay monetary sanctions of $33,295 to cover "reasonable expenses, including attorney's fees."
Earlier yesterday, the Navy announced that it was revoking Bill's title of honorary chief petty officer. Cosby first enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and served four years as a hospital corpsman. In 1960, he was honorably discharged as a 3rd Class Petty Officer. The honorary title was presented to him in 2010.
