Katy Perry covers Billboard‘s latest issue and indirectly addressed her feud with Taylor Swift while talking about her plans for the #SuperBowl Halftime Show.
Their Twitter beef began last year, after Taylor claimed a “straight-up enemy” had tried to “sabotage” her arena tour. Katy responded by tweeting the "Mean Girls" reference: “Watch out for the Regina George in sheep’s clothing.”
When Billboard asked her about it, Katy said:
“If somebody is trying to defame my character, you’re going to hear about it.”
On performing at the Super Bowl next month, the singer said:
“Everyone has been asking me if I’m going to be nervous before the halftime show. I’m like, I’m…human. This is the biggest event of my career. I want the show to be quintessential Katy. It’s like the exclamation point on the whole last cycle. This is the cherry on top to everything I’ve already done.”
Katy refused to clarify the status of her relationship with her on/off boyfriend #JohnMayer but she did talk about being cautious with relationships, saying:
“What I will say is that to have any relationship at this level you have to just be protective and figure out how to navigate it. There is no handbook. In all my relationships, I’ve learned how I have to be more careful and that it’s not up for public consumption.”
