Lindsay Lohan and her mother Dina Lohan have file a defamation lawsuit against Fox News, TV host #SeanHannity and commentator #MichelleFields.
According to the docs filed at Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday, the duo accused them of falsely claiming that Lindsay’s mother is doing cocaine with her and it was “a direct smear on the character/reputation of Lindsay and Dina."
The comment was made February 4, 2014 on Hannity's TV show. Hannity and his guests were discussing celebs who died of overdose, including #HeathLedger, #AnnaNicoleSmith, #AmyWinehouse, #MichaelJackson and #ElvisPresley, when Fields said, "Lindsay Lohan's mom is doing cocaine with her."
Now, the court docs states that:
"Fields made the false, defamatory, heartless, derogatory comment in the context of the show's topic... (It) was a direct smear on the character/reputation of (the Lohans) ... (and it) was a totally irresponsible and malicious innuendo ... (that) Lindsay Lohan might become the next celebrity to join the obituary list."
Fox News sent a letter of apology to Lindsay and Dina's lawyer a year ago, stating that the segment had been removed from the network's website. However, the lawsuit claims that the channel didn't fulfill their promise. The actress and her mom now want the segment to be taken off the website permanently and are seeking unspecified punitive damages.
