Alexandra Burke took over the lead role of Rachel Marron from singer, Beverley Knight, in the musical adaptation of The Bodyguard on Monday night and seems to be taking it all in her stride. The former X Factor winner looked happy as she greeted fans.
Burke took to Twitter ahead of her first performance and posted a clip of herself singing I Will Always Love You - she also wrote:'Less then 2 hours to go.. Just finished my dress rehearsal! Thank you all so much for the overwhelming good luck messages. I'm so touched'
Talking about her new role, Alexandra recently told Digital Spy: 'When I was offered a part in The Bodyguard, I was absolutely gobsmacked, because oh my God, what a role! 'To be honest, I have to pinch myself that I've ever landed this role because I never thought it would happen. 'For the first time in my life I'm able to do all three of my loves in one go - dancing, singing and acting.'
The Bodyguard tells the story of Rachel Marron, a vocal superstar who hires former Secret Service agent, Frank Farmer, to protect her from an unknown stalker. The production is housed at the Adelphi Theatre in London's West End and Alexandra stars opposite Tristan Gemmill, who continues his role as Frank Farmer, originally played by Kevin Costner.
