Jeremy Meeks' mug shot has taken the internet by storm for the past couple days after he was arrested on felony weapons charges on June 18. The 30-year-old convicted felon was arraigned in court on June 20, and a judge raised his bail to $1 million.
Since achieving his new found fame, Jeremy has been busy trying to convince the world that he’s really not a bad guy and has promised his admirers that he will get his act together and give up gang life forever.
Here is the full statement from the San Joaquin County District Attorney:
"People v Jeremy Meeks. Meeks, 30, was charged today by way of complaint. The complaint alleges that Meeks is a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, along with other firearm and gang related charges. At his arraignment, his bail was raised to $1,000,000 and he was appointed a public defender. His next court date is June 27th at 8:30 AM."
"Meeks was stopped by Stockton Police yesterday at approximately 6:30 AM, after he and others were observed leaving a home where a search warrant was about to be executed. Meeks was the driver of a car with two passengers; one of the passengers is Terry Bailey, 23, who is on probation. Baily will also be similarly charged."
"A search of the passenger compartment yielded a 9mm round of ammunition and a small amount of what is believed to be marijuana. A search of the trunk located an unregistered and loaded Springfield Armory .45 caliber XD(M) semi-automatic handgun along with two extended magazines for the firearm."
"Meeks, has a felony conviction and a two year state prison sentence stemming from a 2002 conviction for grand theft from a person (a lesser offense to a robbery) out of Solano County. His documented gang membership, as well as Bailey’s, with Northside Gangster Crips forms the basis for the gang allegations in the complaint."
"A recent resisting arrest conviction suffered by Meeks out of Manteca will result in a Violation of Probation also being filed today."
