Kanye West took the stage at the Cannes Lions Creativity Conference on June 17 to talk about his wedding to Kim Kardashian.
“I can’t be with any girl but Kim because that’s the girl I look at her pictures the most; I get turned on the most. Throughout my entire life because of the way my parents raised me, I was like “I have to work with the number one”. I can’t work with anyone but Jay Z because that’s the number one. I can’t represent any company but Louis Vuitton because that’s the number one.”
Talking about their wedding, Kanye West says famed photographer Annie Leibovitz practically RUINED his honeymoon with Kim Kardashian ... because they had to spend days fixing the now-famous floral wall wedding pic.
Annie was supposed to shoot the pic but she pulled out entirely the day before the wedding. Kanye says she claimed she was "afraid of celebrity". Nonetheless ... the pic was taken but not perfected, and Kanye says he and Kim spent 4 days -- yes, 4 DAYS -- screwing with the pic because the flowers were "off color."
Kanye says the extra work pissed off Kim during their honeymoon, saying ... "She was exhausted because we worked on the photo so much." The photo ended up being the most popular pic ever on Instagram
During the panel discussion, which was moderated by Bloomberg News, Kanye also said that he believed his music video for Bound 2 was only accepted after he Kim appeared on the cover of Vogue.
The singer explained that it was the endorsement of the fashion magazine which enabled the couple to be ‘understood’ after ‘two years of people not understanding an interracial relationship.’
He said: ‘
You have to be able to take the lashes when people don’t understand. Two years of people not understanding an interracial relationship, two years of people not understanding the idea of the art world meets the pop world, you have to take the lash and be able to swim in the backlash. I get bashed so much but create so much, just know that if you want to be a boxer you’re going to get your face beaten constantly but then you may end up being a Mayweather or an Ali at the end of the day.”
