On June 18, Lady Gaga stepped out in a “Can I Play with Madness” tee in New York City.
I wonder if she was making a statement by wearing that tee as recent reports confirmed that the plagiarism lawsuit against her was dismissed by a judge after claims that her song “Judas” ripped off parts of Rebecca Francescatti‘s 1999 track “Juda.”
“We conclude as a matter of law that the two songs are not substantially similar. No reasonable trier of fact could find that Defendants copied protected expression in Francescatti’s song. The songs do not ‘share enough unique features to give rise to a breach of the duty not to copy another’s work.’ …. Accordingly, we grant Defendant’s motion for summary judgment,” the judge said in a statement.
