Last year, Charles Saatchi was photographed throttling his wife (at the time), Nigella Lawson, at Scott's restaurant in Mayfair. Now, Saatchi Gallery is selling pieces of artwork depicting the shocking abuse, from £150 to £17,600.
Charles Saatchi reportedly said removal of the artwork would be “censorship."
“Would it have been a better story if I had censored artists whose work might be personally disobliging?” He added
Although the Saatchi Art website states that users must not upload anything “violent or threatening, or promotes violence," the chief curator of Saatchi Art Rebecca Wilson old the Daily Mail they were not going to remove the violent images.
“Saatchi Art does not believe in censorship unless the material is pornographic or incites racial hatred.” She added.
