Timbaland been on stage with everyone from Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake to Katy Perry and Madonna. But now Timbaland is in deep trouble for failing to perform. The 42-year-old is being sued for half a million dollars by a promoter for postponing, then cancelling a series of concerts in Australia and New Zealand back in 2008.
According to the lawsuit filed June 6, Timbaland agreed to perform in a series of shows in Australia and New Zealand back in July of 2008, and was paid $500K, half of his million dollar payday up front. The promoter, Showtime, claims less than a month before the shows, they were told that Timbaland had to postpone the show in August but they were never given a reason for the delay.
A few weeks later, Showtime found out that Timbaland had scheduled a series of shows in Finland, on the exact same August dates as the shows in Australia.
Eventually the hip hop producer contacted the promoters telling them he had to cancel the entire gig but demanded he get paid the other $500K he was initially promised. Yup, of course Showtime refused and they are now suing to get back the original $500K they paid him, plus damages.
