An ex Tinder executive is suing the dating app for sexual harassment and discrimination. #WhitneyWolfe, Tinder’s former marketing vice-president, alleges that she was stripped of her co-founder title and called a "whore" in front of everyone.
TMZ reports that Wolfe dated one of the executives at Tinder but it didn’t work out. He then waged a harassment campaign against her and even called her a whore in front of the CEO. Giving more details, she claims the guy got jealous when she started seeing someone else and sent her nasty text messages such as:
"I will s**t on him in life. He can enjoy my leftovers."
Tinder is a location-based dating app, which highlights fellow singles in the user’s area and allows users to make their decision on each person anonymously or hook-up, as the case may be.
In an interview with Elle magazine last October, Wolfe shared her personal tips for female users.
“In a bar, a girl might not approach a guy or make the first move. But, you are always looking around, thinking “yes,” “no,” “yes,” “no.” Online, I would never friend a random cute guy on Facebook or start liking his pictures on Instagram — even if I had a crush on him. But with Tinder, it’s like following or friending each other at the same time. The risk of revealing your feelings is removed.”
Wolfe is asking for compensatory damages, including lost pay, punitive damages and restitution.
