The homeless man who accepted Miley Cyrus' award at the VMAs on Sunday is wanted by the police in Oregon for breaching the terms of his probation after a drugs arrest. #JesseHelt is accused of using marijuana, failing to provide urine sample, failing to report to his probation officer, breaching his curfew and failing to complete his community service order.
According to The Sun, in 2011, a judge issued a warrant for Helt's arrest after he repeatedly violating the terms of his probation. He was arrested in October 2010 after he tried to break into a flat where he said a man sold “bad marijuana” to him. Bail was set at $30,000 for Helt, who was on bail for a separate crime after smashing a window at a flat.
On November 23 of the same year, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail, placed on supervised probation for 12 months, fined $572 and ordered to pay restitution.
Last night, Miley Cyrus paid $360 for Helt's economy flight ticket and he got the 7.50pm Alaska Airlines flight from L.A back to his hometown. On arrival, Helt took a cab to his home in Salem, Oregon.
