Rose McGowan was in shock on Friday night after a man climbed out of a sidewalk grate and threw a smoke bomb into a crowded New York restaurant (where she was dining) before fleeing via the same grate. She tweeted:
According to cops, the suspect, who is still at large, climbed out of a subway service grate outside Bar Pitti in Greenwich Village at about 5:30 P.M., threw a grenade-sized smoke bomb into the restaurant and fled via the same grate. Thankfully, no one was injured.
A staffer told NY Daily News:
"It was a big one...about the size of a grenade. Everybody panicked and half the people ran out. I'm just glad it wasn't anything explosive.
An eyewitness told UK Daily Mail:
“I saw something get thrown right into the front door and red smoke started pouring out. The waiters looked really shocked. It was actually pretty scary because one of them picked it up and dropped it into the street where the smoke finished pouring out. People started panicking, but as it dispersed, some started taking pictures. The employees seemed really confused about what was happening."
The prankster was described as a white male with blond hair, in his 30s and wore a t-shirt emblazoned with the American flag.
