Bradley Cooper nailed his debut Broadway performance as “The Elephant Man” at New York City's Booth Theater on Sunday. The actor portrayal Englishman Joseph Merrick, whose deformities led to him being known as The Elephant Man.
Bradley and his co-stars #PatriciaClarkson and #AlessandroNivola played to a packed house at the opening night and after the show, critics shared their glowing review of the performance:
Variety's review wrote:
"It's a stunning performance," they write. "Deeply felt and very moving."
The New York Times's review wrote:
"The first star of his stature to take on the part [of Merrick] in our post-Warhol world of celebrity obsession," noting "he brings to this production the weight of years of being stared at as an adult. He is, as he should be, the elephant in the room."
Deadline's review stated: "Cooper is the best Merrick yet."
Later that night, Bradley rocked a grey three-piece suit for the after-party at Gotham Hall.
