Mel B’s husband Stephen Belafonte has responded to rumors that he abused her. The rumors began when fans set Twitter ablaze with comments after the #XFactorUK judge sported bruises and cuts on the show on Sunday after missing Saturday’s show while in the hospital. She also wasn’t wearing her wedding ring during live show.
Though Belafonte defended himself on Twitter on Monday, he also spoke about the allegations in a new interview with the Daily Mail saying:
“Who accused me of it, did she accuse me of it, the police, the hospital, who accused me of it?. No one has accused me of anything. I had nothing to do with hurting my wife. I did not touch Mel. I didn’t hit her. I wasn’t cheating or anything. There was no girl involved”
The film producer then claimed not to have seen any news about the state of his marriage or abuse rumors.
“I never saw anything, is there something online about me?” he asked. “Listen I had no idea, I didn't know I have no idea, what was it New York Times, or was it the LA Times, what was it, this week, what paper was I on?”
When asked flat out if he had hit his wife, he said:
“You'll see all the legal letters going out tomorrow. Everybody's been contacted by Mel's representative, all the papers, that said: ‘I did not hit her, this isn't going on, that's not going on.’”
Earlier this week, Mel B walked out on Belafonte amid the rumors of abuse and he flew back to the US. He's currently in San Diego.
