Angelina Jolie met Pope Francis at the Vatican in Rome earlier today for a special screening of her movie Unbroken. The Pope was not present at the screening, but Angelina and her two daughters Shiloh and Zahara met him briefly afterwards.
#BradPitt didn’t attend the meeting due to a “last minute change”. In a statement (via Us Weekly), Angelina said:
“Being invited with my film to the Vatican is an honor and a great tribute to the story that I have told in Unbroken. The story of the hero Louis a great example of strength and forgiveness."
Universal Pictures Italia also released a statement that read:
"Pope Francis, aware of the incredible life story of #LouisZamperini, graciously welcomed the opportunity to view the film and is expected to attend the screening at the Casina Pio IV, headquarters of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences".
