Michael Phelps is engaged to his on/off girlfriend Nicole Johnson. The #Olympic swimmer proposed to the former Miss California, and the happy couple shared the good news on Instagram with a series of photos of themselves playing in the snow. Michael captioned a pic, featuring her engagement ring, “She said yes,” while Nicole wrote “I’m gonna be a Mrs. [Phelps].”

On Sunday, Michael Phelps announced he is going to rehab after he was arrested for DUI earlier this week. Phelps wrote on Twitter in a series of tweets:
“The past few days have been extremely difficult. I recognize that this is not my first lapse in judgment, and I am extremely disappointed with myself. I’m going to take some time away to attend a program that will provide the help I need to better understand myself."
"Swimming is a major part of my life, but right now I need to focus my attention on me as an individual, and do the necessary work to learn from this experience and make better decisions in the future.”
After his arrest last Tuesday, Phelps said he was “deeply sorry” for driving drunk, and would “take full responsibility.”
Olympic legend, Michael Phelps was arrested for driving under the influence in Baltimore, Maryland on Tuesday morning. Cops pulled his Range Rover over at about 1:40 a.m. for going 84 miles per hour in a 45 mph zone.
Phelps failed a field sobriety test, with a blood-alcohol level almost twice the legal limit. He was charged with DUI, excessive speeding and crossing double lane lines. He was taken into custody, booked, and eventually released.
This is not the first time Phelps has been in trouble with the law. In 2004, he was arrested for DUI when he was 19 years old. He struck a deal with prosecutors and plead guilty in exchange for 18 months probation.
Phelps is the most decorated Olympian in history and recently returned to swimming after a brief retirement.
