Ellen DeGeneres’ marriage drama has reached a whole new level because her wife Portia de Rossi, who reportedly went to rehab for alcohol addiction, secretly filmed the couple’s worst rows, according to In Touch.
“Portia secretly taped some of their arguments. She was drunk,” a source tells the magazine. “Then she threatened to expose Ellen as controlling and manipulating.”
Understandably, Ellen flipped out when she found out and somehow she ended up breaking Rossi’s cell phone and read her emails to ensure she hadn’t sent the video to anyone, the source says.
But despite the shocking rehab stint and the explosive fights, the couple is working on their marriage.
“Portia going to rehab was the first step in saving their marriage,” insists the source. “They want their marriage to work more than anything.”
Divorce rumors have been surrounding Ellen and her wife, Portia, for weeks now, but nothing has really come of them.
However, a shocking new report claims actress Portia de Rossi secretly checked into a rehab facility in early May to receive treatment for drugs and alcohol, after an “ugly fight” with wife Ellen DeGeneres. A source close to the couple told In Touch.
“They got into an ugly fight. Portia hadn’t been happy for a while and was drinking and isolating [herself], and Ellen confronted her. Portia lost it and blamed Ellen for driving her to drink because of her controlling ways and said she wasn’t in love with her anymore. Ellen was crushed and screamed at Portia to get out.”
“Portia entered Passages Malibu rehab facility in early May for a 30-day treatment for drugs and alcohol,” another source continued. “Ellen visited her every weekend to support her while she was there. Ellen is domineering and Portia is passive. Ellen always calls the shots, and Portia never complains."
"She felt like a prisoner in her own home. She went from sipping white wine occasionally to drinking at least a bottle or more a day and topping it off with a pill. It got to the point where she was out of it four nights a week. They’ve had vicious shouting matches — with both of them yelling cruel, soul-crushing put-downs that they both deeply regretted.”
In an attempt to resolve their issues, DeGeneres and de Rossi reportedly tried couples therapy before the rehab stint.
“Portia often felt like she’d been cut off from her friends because Ellen wanted her all to herself. Portia felt like she let Ellen turn her into the ultimate Stepford Wife.” the source told In Touch. “Her bottom wasn’t like the dramatic ones you see on a Lifetime movie."
"It all progressed slowly, and she finally realized she was powerless and not in control anymore. They are on their way to repairing their marriage. It won’t be easy. Portia will always be battling these demons. But they love each other.”
DeGeneres and de Rossi’s have not commented on the incident.
