A couple of weeks ago, #Rihanna and #SelenaGomez were bombarded with threats and abuse after they commented on the Middle East crisis on social media. #OneDirection singer Zayn Malik decided to do the same and cause a Twitter storm.
The 21-year-old, who was brought up a Muslim in Bradford, Yorkshire in England, tweeted #FreePalestine, last night to his 13million followers, which was retweeted 140,000 times.
Shortly after, people started posting comments telling him to 'kill himself' and one even posted: “Let me kill you”.
Another one wrote: “U have fans in #Israel. It broke me that one of my idols wand me to die @benwinstone @harry_styles @onedirection [sic].”
Earlier yesterday, #LiamPayne shared a pixelated naked pic of himself on social media so this could be some kind of publicity stunt or maybe the boys just wanted attention on a quiet Sunday. We’ll have to wait and see.
