Lorraine Schwartz, who has designed engagement rings for stars such as #Beyonce, #KimKardashian and #BlakeLively, was wearing a 10.62 carat yellow diamond worth $250k at the #GoldenGlobe this year but lost it during the event.
At the time, Schwartz told cops that someone might have slipped it off her finger but it turned out that the ring simply slipped off her finger, according to legal documents and a janitor, Henry Bernal found the ring and took it home to his girlfriend.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that Bernal and his girlfriend, Christina Gonzalez, took the ring to a jeweler for appraisal but when the jeweler offered to buy the ring, Bernal got greedy and took it to GIA (Gemological Institute of America) to get it certified.
Unfortunately for Bernal, GIA knew something was wrong because the ring already had a certification number, so they called the police who then questioned Bernal. He claimed he didn’t go to the police after he found the ring because he didn’t trust them.
The matter is currently being investigated by FBI, LAPD and Bev Hills PD.
