Shocking new details about Joan Rivers’ biopsy at Yorkville Endoscopy emerged yesterday. According to a new report, Joan’s doctor allegedly took a selfie while she was unconscious before performing an unauthorized biopsy on her which led to her cardiac arrest and death.
As previously reported, Joan’s personal ear, nose and throat doctor, who was not authorized to perform any medical procedures at the clinic, took over and began a biopsy after gastroenterologist Dr. Lawrence Cohen found something in Joan’s vocal cords.
Yesterday, CNN reported that a staff at Yorkville Endoscopy clinic told investigators that Joan’s doctor snapped a selfie with the Fashion Police star when she was under anesthesia. The source also claims that Joan’s “vocal cords began to swell during the allegedly unauthorized biopsy, cutting off the flow of oxygen to her lungs, which led to cardiac arrest.”
The Yorkville clinic previously denied vocal cord biopsies were ever done at their center. Dr. Cohen, who was the director of the facility, was ordered to step down by the clinic's board of director and he no longer works there.
Officials are still investigating but the clinic declined to comment on the new allegations.
