Shocking new details are being reported about Joan Rivers' tragic death. Apparently, she did not even want the biopsy that eventually led to her death.
The 81-year-old comedienne was reportedly visiting the Yorkville Endoscopy center in NYC last month to have “a diagnostic procedure [to] see why her voice had gotten raspy,” according to the New York Daily News.
Doctor performing the endoscopy found "something" on Joan’s vocal cords, but then another doctor, whom Joan brought with her "asked if he could use their instruments" to perform an unplanned throat biopsy. Reports say that this is “a huge no-no” for a clinic to allow this to be done as Joan had agreed to the endoscopy but not the biopsy.
During the biopsy, Joan suffered a vocal cord contraction laryngospasm, which stopped her breathing. Sources told the publication that if the biopsy had been done in a hospital, Joan "might have been okay."
She passed away on September 4, about a week after the procedure.
