Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of premeditated murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp but still has to wait for 24-hour to find out if he is guilty of manslaughter.
Judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa, in South Africa’s Pretoria Court Thursday, said that prosecutors failed to provide “enough facts” to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he planned on fatally shooting his girlfriend.
The judge went on to address a lesser charge of culpable homicide, which is similar to manslaughter, saying the runner had been "negligent" when he fired the fatal shots. She also said that he acted "hastily" and with "too much force." The court has been adjourned for the day.
