#OscarPistorius Found Guilty Of Manslaughter Of Girlfriend #ReevaSteenkamp
Oscar Pistorius was found guilty of manslaughter today, over the Valentine's Day shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.
The blade runner stood impassively in the dock with his hands folded in front of him, as the judge convicted him of culpable homicide. He faces up to 15 years in jail but could walk free from court with a suspended term when he is sentenced on October 13.
Delivering the verdict, Judge Thokozile Masipa said:
“Having regard to the totality of this evidence in this matter, the unanimous decision of this court is the following: on count one, murder... the accused found not guilty and is discharged. Instead he is found guilty of culpable homicide.”
Steenkamp's father Barry leaned forward in his seat when the manslaughter verdict was read, while her mother, June, showed no reaction. Members of Pistorius's family embraced the shamed paralympian.
He was granted bail but will remain in the custody of his uncle until sentencing next month.

#OscarPistorius Found Not Guilty Of Premeditated Murder Of #ReevaSteenkamp
Oscar Pistorius was found not guilty of premeditated murder in the shooting death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp but still has to wait for 24-hour to find out if he is guilty of manslaughter.
Judge Thokozile Matilda Masipa, in South Africa’s Pretoria Court Thursday, said that prosecutors failed to provide “enough facts” to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that he planned on fatally shooting his girlfriend.
The judge went on to address a lesser charge of culpable homicide, which is similar to manslaughter, saying the runner had been "negligent" when he fired the fatal shots. She also said that he acted "hastily" and with "too much force." The court has been adjourned for the day.

Oscar Pistorius' elder brother, Carl Pistorius is in critical condition at a Pretoria hospital after being badly hurt in a head-on car collision on Aug. 1. Carl was on his way home from a business trip late Friday when a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction swerved out in front of him.
He suffered a broken right arm, leg, left foot and several lacerations to his liver and heart but the family has been told by doctors that he is out of danger. In a statement, Arnold Pistorius, an uncle, said a colleague travelling in a different vehicle saw the crash which took place near Modimolle in Limpopo province.

#OscarPistorius Gets Into A Fight At A Johannesburg Nightclub
Oscar Pistorius found himself in a pickle over the weekend. He was involved in an altercation in the VIP room of a nightclub after a man confronted him about his ongoing murder trial.
According the man, Jared Mortimer, he was introduced to Pistorius by a mutual friend and the athlete immediately started talking about the friends who had turned against him because of his trial.
But when Pistorius, who was “drunk and very aggressive”, insulted the family of Jacob Zuma, the South African president, Mortimer shoved him sending him falling backwards into a chair which prompted bouncers at club to intervene and breakup the fight.
However last night, Pistorius' rep Anneliese Burges confirmed he was at the club but denied claims that he initiated the fight. She said:
"We can confirm that Oscar was at a night club with one of his cousins. They sat in a quiet area of the private VIP section when they were approached by the individual you have identified as Mr Mortimer."
"The individual in question, according to our client, started to aggressively engage him on matters relating to the trial. An argument ensued during which our client asked to be left alone. Oscar left soon thereafter with his cousin. Our client regrets the decision to go into a public place and thereby inviting unwelcome attention," she added

Watch: Leaked Video Of #OscarPistorius Reenacting The Moment He Shot #ReevaSteenkamp
A chilling video of Oscar Pistorius reenacting the events that led up to the fatal shooting of Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door at his Pretoria home has emerged.
In the clip, which will be aired on the Sunday Night documentary slot of Australia's Channel Seven, the 27-year-old looks impassive as he acts out the events of the night. He is seen in Lycra running shorts and Nike vest running without legs and pretending to hold a gun out in front of him. Another clip shows him pulling a woman out of a lavatory.
The purpose of the re-enactment and why it was not shown to the trial is unclear but the video was shot by an American company and Pistorius' lawyers are reportedly livid that the clip was leaked.
Pistorius' trial resumed last week after an adjournment for a psychiatric evaluation of the paralympian’s mental state of mind.

#OscarPistorius Was Not Mentally Ill During Reeva Steenkamp Shooting
On June 30, Oscar Pistorius was deemed fit to stand the remainder of his murder trial following a 30-day psychiatric evaluation of the double-amputee athlete.
The Olympian, accused in the Feb. 14, 2013 of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, was completely able to distinguish right and wrong at the time of the shooting, according to the reports.
Prosecutor Gerrie Nel read the findings in Monday’s session, countering the testimony of forensic psychiatrist Dr. Merryll Vorster, who previously said that a pre-existing anxiety impacted his values system and mental outlook in relation to the shooting.
This means Pistorius is ineligible to be declared not guilty due to a mental disorder and faces a 25-year minimum sentence if found guilty.
