Misty Upham, 32, who was reported missing about two weeks ago, has been found dead.
On Thursday, the Auburn Police Department said that a body was “found in a wooded area near Forest Ridge Drive in Auburn "presumed" to be Misty but it was awaiting "positive identification" from the King County medical examiner. Later, a spokeswoman for the Uphams confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that the body was indeed Misty's.
Misty, was an American actress who earned wide praise for her roles in movies including August: Osage County, Frozen River and Django Unchained. She was last seen on October 5 near a relative's home in Auburn, Washington. The actress had returned to the Seattle-area to help care for her father, Charles Upham, who suffered a stroke last year.
Shortly after her disappearance, her father revealed his fears that she may be suicidal, telling The Hollywood Reporter that:
“She had recently changed her medication, so she was sort of having erratic behavior. She told me and her mom that we didn’t have to worry about her any more. I thought it sounded suicidal myself, so I called the police. She’s always been a suicidal person.”
Misty's cause of death has yet to be determined but the Auburn Police Department said: "At this point we do not have any evidence or information to believe there is foul play."
Misty played Meryl Streep's caretaker in “August: Osage County” and Meryl paid her respects, telling The Hollywood Reporter:
"So, so sad to hear this news—all our thoughts are with her family and with her beautiful spirit."
Juliette Lewis, who co-starred with Misty in August: Osage County, tweeted:
"I cant sleep. Too much darkness. I feel so sad about Misty. I know she has more to say. And about how she died. #RIPMistyUpham."
And #MelissaLeo, who was her co-star in America in Frozen River, added: "Such a loss...so sad, so so sad."
