#OscarPistorius Found Guilty Of Manslaughter Of Girlfriend #ReevaSteenkamp

Oscar Pistorius was found guilty of manslaughter today, over the Valentine's Day shooting of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

The blade runner stood impassively in the dock with his hands folded in front of him, as the judge convicted him of culpable homicide. He faces up to 15 years in jail but could walk free from court with a suspended term when he is sentenced on October 13.

Delivering the verdict, Judge Thokozile Masipa said:

“Having regard to the totality of this evidence in this matter, the unanimous decision of this court is the following: on count one, murder... the accused found not guilty and is discharged. Instead he is found guilty of culpable homicide.”

Steenkamp's father Barry leaned forward in his seat when the manslaughter verdict was read, while her mother, June, showed no reaction. Members of Pistorius's family embraced the shamed paralympian.

He was granted bail but will remain in the custody of his uncle until sentencing next month.

Watch: Leaked Video Of #OscarPistorius Reenacting The Moment He Shot #ReevaSteenkamp

leaked vid

A chilling video of Oscar Pistorius reenacting the events that led up to the fatal shooting of Reeva Steenkamp through a locked bathroom door at his Pretoria home has emerged.

In the clip, which will be aired on the Sunday Night documentary slot of Australia's Channel Seven, the 27-year-old looks impassive as he acts out the events of the night. He is seen in Lycra running shorts and Nike vest running without legs and pretending to hold a gun out in front of him. Another clip shows him pulling a woman out of a lavatory.

The purpose of the re-enactment and why it was not shown to the trial is unclear but the video was shot by an American company and Pistorius' lawyers are reportedly livid that the clip was leaked.

Pistorius' trial resumed last week after an adjournment for a psychiatric evaluation of the paralympian’s mental state of mind.

#OscarPistorius Was Not Mentally Ill During Reeva Steenkamp Shooting

On June 30, Oscar Pistorius was deemed fit to stand the remainder of his murder trial following a 30-day psychiatric evaluation of the double-amputee athlete.

The Olympian, accused in the Feb. 14, 2013 of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp, was completely able to distinguish right and wrong at the time of the shooting, according to the reports.

Prosecutor Gerrie Nel read the findings in Monday’s session, countering the testimony of forensic psychiatrist Dr. Merryll Vorster, who previously said that a pre-existing anxiety impacted his values system and mental outlook in relation to the shooting.

This means Pistorius is ineligible to be declared not guilty due to a mental disorder and faces a 25-year minimum sentence if found guilty.
