#MelissaRivers Takes Son Cooper Shopping After First #Thanksgiving Without #JoanRivers

Melissa Rivers was spotted taking her son Cooper, who turns 14 on Monday, shopping at Bloomingdale's in NYC on Friday. The 46-year-old presenter stood out in her designer fur coat and Hermés Birkin bag, which retails for $9,000.

Last night, Melissa Rivers made an appearance on a special episode of E!'s Fashion Police to talk about her late mother for the first time since the legendary comedienne passed away and also revealed that she received a condolence letter from President Barack Obama. 

In July, Joan Rivers sparked a controversy after calling #BarackObama gay and his wife, #MichelleObama, a transgender but that did not discourage them from mourning her passing. Joan's former Fashion Police costars, #GiulianaRancic, #KellyOsbourne, and #GeorgeKotsiopoulos were also on the show. Watch the clip below.

Joan Rivers‘ daughter, Melissa said goodbye by kissing her casket outside Frank E. Campbell funeral home shortly before her mom’s body was transported to a crematorium in New Jersey on Saturday, according to Page Six.

A team of pallbearers carried the coffin to the hearse. Fighting back tears, Melissa then turned to her son, Cooper and touched him tenderly on the cheek before the hearse pulled away.

About a half hour later, drivers were seen unloaded the casket at the Garden State Crematory in Union City, where Rivers’ body will be cremated before her funeral at Temple Emanu-El on Sunday.

Joan Rivers died on Thursday after she stopped breathing during a throat surgery last week. Watch the video below.

#JoanRivers Passes Away In New York At Age 81

Legendary comedienne Joan Rivers, 81, has passed away at Mount Sinai Hospital in NY,  just a week after her heart suddenly stopped beating during routine vocal cord surgery. Her daughter #MelissaRivers took her off life support so she could pass comfortably in a private room.

 

In a statement, Melissa announced the sad news:

“It is with great sadness that I announce the death of my mother, Joan Rivers. She passed peacefully at 1:17pm surrounded by family and close friends. My son and I would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff of Mount Sinai Hospital for the amazing care they provided by mother.”

“Cooper and I have found ourselves humbled by the outpouring of love, support, and prayers we have received from around the world. They have been heard and appreciated. My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh. Although that is difficult to do right now, I know her final wish would be that we return to laughing soon.”

The clinic where she had the surgery is now under investigation. Joan's funeral will be held at Temple Emanu-El in NY on Sunday and she wrote her funeral requests in her 2012 book which you can see in the pic directly below. She was so funny!. May her soul rest in peace

#JoanRivers In Medically Induced Coma And Resting Comfortably

Comedienne Joan Rivers is in medically induced coma at Mount Sinai hospital in New York after heart stopped beating during throat surgery at a clinic on Thursday. She’s expected to remain in coma until the weekend.

On Tuesday, Joan promoted her new book "Diary Of A Mad Woman" and also taped a special 90 minute edition of her show Fashion Police which aired on E! that same night.

Her daughter, #MelissaRivers flew in from L.A last night to be by her side and released a statement saying:

"I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers."

Joan's friends and other celebs reacted to the news on Thursday via social media.
